St. Joseph's Church
The beautiful brick buildings in Ray Township that have become the new home of St. Joseph's Church and Academy.
Saint Joseph's history dates back to 1974, at a time when the Catholic Church was undergoing profound changes in its teachings and liturgy. A group of pious laymen purchased our present house and offered it to the Society of Saint Pius X, recently founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
The house, or priory serves as a relay to Society priests who celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to the Traditional Latin Rite in various locations (To read more about the priory, see link in the menu above). Amidst so many changes and upheavals in the Church, the house serves as a haven to Catholics and their families, desirous of resisting doctrinal and liturgical innovations that have proved so detrimental to the Catholic Church.
Today, the priory houses three priests of the Society of Saint Pius X, who serve a community of about 750 souls throughout Michigan. The churches where they celebrate Mass are open to all. There you will find sound catholic doctrine and beautiful liturgical ceremonies, with Gregorian chant and respectful prayer.
They celebrate daily Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Ray Township. Here the Catholic life is able to be lived fully and intensely - a life centered around the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This treasure, available every day, is the source of grace and truth and the occasion whereby Our Savior Jesus Christ distributes the merits of His Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension.
